I heard thy voice in the garden...

storm

And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself. -Genesis 3.10

Why do we hide ourselves from God? It seems as though when we sin, it is sometimes easier to hide from God and pretend that He doesn't see us, than to humble ourselves and restore fellowship with Him. One way solves the problem the other only prolongs the inevitable. The truth of the matter simply is this: you cannot hide from God no matter how hard you try.

Question: Am I hiding from God? Why?

Mission: Examine yourself to see if you are hiding from the Lord and restore fellowship with Him if you are.

Lord, let me be open and transparent in your sight today. I have nothing to hide from you. Bless me and help me to have a spirit of openness with you. Amen.

And behold it was very good...

And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day. -Genesis 1.31

In the first chapter of Genesis alone the word "good" is used seven times. It is easy to see that the Lord was obviously pleased with all that He created. God has created you and I just as we are. (Psalm 139.13) He knows everything about you, and He regards you as His creation. Many times we forget to recognize that God created us and loves us just as we are.

Question: Am I happy with who God has made me? Why or why not?

Mission: Take note of when you feel as though you are not good enough, and ask, "Why do I feel that I am not good enough when I know that I was created by God?"

Lord Jesus, thank you for making me the way I am. Please help me to be content with who you have made me and what your plan for my life is.

In the beginning...

EarthBlueMarbleWestTerra

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. -Gen 1:1

Before there was anything there was God. He created all things. The air that we breathe, the water we drink, the sunshine we enjoy, all these things were created by God for us to enjoy. (1 Timothy 6.17) It is so easy as young Christians to get so caught up in the everyday routine of life that we fail to recognize the beauty and blessing that is our surroundings.

Question: What little things such as the above do you fail to appreciate and thank God for everyday?

Question: How can you change the way you view your surroundings to be more aware of the miracle that is creation?

Mission: Take a note today to notice three things that the Lord has given you that you wouldn't normally give any attention to.

Dear Lord, thank you for creating all things just for me! I am sorry for not noticing all the wonderful things that you daily place in my path. Help me to be mindful of the creation that glorifies you by its very existence.
